The medicine belongs to the class of medication known as anti-hypertensives and is primarily used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). A lifelong or chronic condition known as hypertension, or high blood pressure, occurs when the blood pressure against the arterial wall is too high. It increases the chance of developing cardiac disorders including heart attack and stroke.

Chlorthalidone ……. 6.25

Mechanism:

This tablet form of medicine is an amalgamation of two medicines named Telmisartan which is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist and Chlorthalidone which is a thiazide diuretic or water pill. Telmisartan, an angiotensin receptor antagonist, aids in relaxing and widening blood vessels (arteries). A diuretic called chlorthalidone prevents the body from absorbing more salt, which reduces fluid retention. Together, they reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and edema(fluid retention) in the future.
